Title:
Asst/Assoc Professor in Information Science and Technology: Social Media and Social Network Analysis

Position Summary:
The Informatics Department seeks outstanding candidates with or near completion of a Ph.D. in a computational or computer-related discipline. Preference will be given to candidates in the areas of social network analysis, social media and analytics, organizational communication, and data science.
Outstanding candidates in other areas of information science and technology including human-computer interaction, data science, information systems, and other informatics areas will also be considered.

Essential Functions:
The Informatics Department is part of NJIT's Ying Wu College of Computing. As such, tenure and teaching expectations are aligned with those of the broader computational, information science and information technology communities, with an emphasis on active grant funding and publishing in top conferences and scholarly journals. As a faculty member of the Informatics Department, he/she is expected to (1) teach undergraduate and graduate classes ; (2) develop and teach new graduate and/or undergraduate classes and (3) serve the Department, the College and the University.


Additional Functions:
Serve on department and university committees.

Prerequisite Qualifications:
Applications must have a Ph.D. by the summer of 2019 in information science, computer science, or in a related science or social science discipline using computational methods and techniques. Applicants should be able to teach introductory courses in data analytics, information science, programming and be able to teach advanced classes in their area of expertise. In addition, they should be able to supervise Ph.D. students. Outstanding candidates with significant funding and publication records will be considered at the associate professor level. At the universities discretion, the education and experience prerequisites may be exempted where the candidate can demonstrate to the satisfaction of the university an equivalent combination of education and experience specifically preparing the candidate for success in the position.

Preferred Qualifications:
Demonstrated experience in seeking and obtaining funding to support research is highly preferred.
