Assistant Professor in AR/VR/MR and Serious Gaming
Full-time appointment at the level of Assistant Professor in the area of AR/VR/MR and serious gaming in the Department of Informatics.
The Department of Informatics seeks outstanding candidates with or near the completion of a PhD in a computing-related discipline. Preferences will be given to expertise in augmented, virtual, and mixed reality (AR/VR/MR), and applications of immersive technologies in serious gaming. Multimedia, networking, security and other Information Technology researchers will also be considered. Information Technology-related industrial experience is a plus.
The Informatics Department is part of NJIT's Ying Wu College of Computing, which focuses on computing-related research. As such, tenure and teaching expectations are aligned with those of the broader computing community, with an emphasis on grant funding and publishing in top conferences and scholarly journals.
Applicants should have an excellent academic record, exceptional potential for world-class research and attracting grant funding, and be qualified to teach introductory courses in information technology, and advanced courses in their area of expertise.
Serve on department and university committees.

Conduct research, and teach at both the undergraduate and graduate level.
Applicants must have a Ph.D. by summer 2018 in a computing related area, and should have an excellent, demonstrated academic and/or research record. Applicants should be able to teach advanced courses in AR/VR/MR and game development as well as general courses in other areas of IT (e.g., system administration, security, networking, Web systems). In addition, they should be able to supervise PhD students.
At the university's discretion, the education and experience prerequisites may be excepted where the candidate can demonstrate to the satisfaction of the university an equivalent combination of education and experience specifically preparing the candidate for success in the position.
Grant experience is highly preferred.
