Joga RaoPosition Type:FacultyPosition Summary:The Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering (MIE) of the Newark College of Engineering at New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) invites applications for tenure-track Assistant/Associate/Full Professors in all areas of Mechanical Engineering and related areas. By the time of appointment, successful candidates must have earned a Ph.D. (or equivalent) degree, with a record of pertinent high-quality research. The department will consider all areas of Mechanical Engineering and Engineering Science, some possible areas of interest are: Advanced Manufacturing / Robotics / Design: Design, including design theory, product design and design for manufacturability. Integrated modeling, simulation and data science techniques that predictively improve the outcome of the design, manufacturing and assembly processes. Integration of thermal, electrical, and sensing functionalities into devices and systems. Development of novel robotics application areas including Control, Novel Mechanisms and Actuators, Prosthetics and Assistive Robotics. Mechanics/Materials: computational solids mechanics (preferably at continuum level modeling) with an application towards biomaterials, energy storage and conversion materials, composites, and other emerging materials. Thermo-Fluids: bio-inspired fluid mechanics and systems, complex fluids, application to energy systems, multiphase systems with phase change, combustion and reactive flows fluid flow and heat transfer, microfluidics systems and devices , high performance computing, turbulence, and environmental fluid dynamics, and heat transfer, thermal design, management and characterization of electronic systems and components. Essential Functions:The successful candidate is expected to carry out high quality scholarly research and collaborate with other faculty. The successful candidate should have a clear plan to establish a vibrant research program, secure external research funding, and participate actively in guiding, educating and teaching graduate and undergraduate students.Prerequisite Qualifications:Earned Ph.D. (or equivalent) degree, with a record of pertinent high-quality research
